Get ready to step back in time and raise a cup of tea in celebration! We’re thrilled to invite our cherished residents, their families, and special guests to our very special VE Celebration Day on 8^th May 2025 at 1:00 PM in the Main Lounge of Stable Steps Care Centre.

Marking the anniversary of Victory in Europe, we’re planning a truly nostalgic afternoon filled with the sights, sounds, and spirit of the 1940s. It promises to be a heartwarming occasion to commemorate resilience, remember loved ones, and celebrate peace together.

What to Look Forward To:

• 1940s Sing-Along: Belt out wartime classics and beloved tunes from the era with live entertainment! Expect favourites from Vera Lynn, Glenn Miller, and more.
• Traditional Afternoon Tea: Enjoy a delicious spread of classic British treats – think Victoria sponge, scones with jam & cream, sandwiches, and plenty of tea (or perhaps a celebratory tipple!).
• Memory Lane Displays: Share stories and browse memorabilia from the wartime and post-war period. We’d love residents to contribute photos or objects if they wish!
• Vintage Ambiance: Immerse yourself in the atmosphere with Union Jack bunting, wartime posters, and perhaps even some period dress (fancy dress encouraged for visitors and staff!).
• Community Spirit: A wonderful opportunity for residents, families, staff, and local volunteers to connect, share memories, and create new joyful moments together.

This event is about honouring their experiences, sacrifices, and the incredible spirit of community that defined that generation. It’s a day for reflection, gratitude, and joyful remembrance.
